Review
I thought Geography was very good this year. I learnt alot and discovered some new ways to study and work efficiently. I think was due to the group work and the interactive learning on computers. The negatives were the amount of work, despite being useful for the assessment task. Mr Cav.....you wrote frasers name in my report? Not happy thought we had a great connection this year...thanks for the Year sir

Outline the main geographical processes relevant to Coastal Management.
The main Geographical processes include prevention and treatment towards erosion. Costal Management schemes include Sea walls which prevent erosion of the land. The reason why Seawalls are needed is because people have chosen to live close to the coast and the erosion can destroy the peoples land and in particular homes. Another Coastal management process is the reducing of pollution going into the ocean. The ocean accepts billions of litres of water a day from homes and run off, therefore this water is not clean and would harm the ocean environment in particular the animals. Therefore their are catches located at beaches which prevent rubbish and chemicals flowing out into the sea.

Go Back to Where You Came From Reflection
- My initial reaction to the show, was amazement. I was extremely surprised on how and where these refugee's lived. My opinion completely changed from the start, I now believe the refugee's deserve a better life, and that better life should be Australia. It was a shock to me of how violent and how desperate people can get when their is an aid or food line. There were thousands of children suffering and I know realize actually how many people are affected.
- 7%
- The reason why it creates such a big deal is because these people are coming into our country illegally, and they could be wanting to create violence or even terrorism. People however don't know the facts about the refugee's and they are simply judging them on their own beliefs. The political parties need to decide whether or not Australia should be or not letting in the refugee's.
- 18th
- We have the obligation to help these people, as their own country is in disarray and cannot support their people. Australia is a very fortunate country and is able to help other countries with need, therefore Australia should be supporting these people especially the children as they our the worlds future. However Australia should not be mothering the country the whole time, the country itself needs to fix their issues and get back on track.
- They recieve the exact same
- 11
- This is important as they are not able to take on refugee's as their standards are not up where Australia and the other 10 countries are. Therefore Australia is unable to send these refugee's over and this is the reason why the plan has stopped. Refugee's in Malaysia are now unable to travel anywhere, they are unable to work, get education or health care.

Year 10: Military - China
1. The author means that everything that is being done has a strategic reasoning. This relates to the US wanted to be more militarily active in the Asia-Pacific region.
2. That china is behind the push by Gillards ministers to ban uranium sales to India.
3. The major mistakes are the illegal immigrants coming by boat, her East Timor solution, the premature announcement of the Malaysian people-swap deal and the abrupt suspension of the live cattle trade with Indonesia.
5. This quote means that south east Asians are wanted to stick close to the US and us for protection.
6. They have forced Australia and the US to have negotiations about a greater US military presence in Australia, particularly Northern Australia.
7. Allan Hawke and Ric Smith will be conducting the Australia Defense Force Posture review. They are both former heads of the defence department.
8. The five area's are:
· The rise of the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean rim as regions of global strategic significance
· The growth of military power projection capabilities in the Asia Pacific
· The need for disaster relief in the region
· energy security and security issues associated with expanding offshore resource exploitation in our northwest and northern approaches.
9. The author suggests the offshore area from Darwin west to the Pilbara because it is one of the greatest resource-rich areas anywhere on the planet, and yet it abuts a part of Australia that is all but depopulated and without onshore infrastructure, including military infrastructure.
10. This creates less conflict, because countries are less likely to engage in conflict if there is more defence in the area.
11. As China now deploys the largest fleet of attack submarines in the world. China has also commissioned more than 40 new subs since 1995, and has nearly 500 fourth-generation fighter-bombers now in service. China's first aircraft carrier, a succession of advanced stealth combat aircraft and a range of extremely sophisticated missile systems and huge numbers of missiles.
12. Rudd told us to expect huge increases in military spending.
13. As those two said that it made "no sense for Australia to base its long-term strategic policy on the highly contentious proposition that we are on an inevitable collision course with a militarily aggressive China". Rudd thought differently believed it did make sense.
14. They seek to not engage in conflict and slow down their military expanding.

Year 10: Australian Aid
2. Summary-
- That Australia is increasing its money and support
- There isn't a real need for Australia to be sending this amount of money as poverty is ending
- Most countries are now growing by themselves
- Australia is now looking more for an image than actually helping others.
- Doubling aid funds
The author is presenting the story showing that the our country has real no benefit sending this money as the countries are growing and are learning to fend for themselves. All this money is doing is creating stronger relationships and impressing other countries, the world is almost developed despite millions of people still living off $1.25. For instance us giving money to the Indonesians makes them spend their money on things that are less important.
3. They are giving more money as they want to strengthen relationships as well as show off to other countries that they have money to spend and are looking out to help others. The benefits would be that when Australia is in trouble they will have the backing of the countries they supported. Negatives would be that Australia may run out of money or not have enough to solve their own issues. The money that is sent may not be spent appropriately and good be wasted.
Year 10: Monday 25/7 Period 4

6. Kevin wants to bring the tension down between North Korea and the world, and show the world what Nth Korea is up to with their developing weapons system. Kevin is making sure and showing the world that Australia has backing up from North Korea. This shows the world that Australia's relation is strong and hopefully getting stronger.
7. This relationship will strengthen Australia's major allies as they also want the backing of North Korea, more countries will want to side with Australia as they know of North Korea's nuclear strength. However if countries disagree with North Korea's methods then Australia may lose allies and gain threats.

Christchurch a city in 5 Images
Christchurch has 10 Ski Fields from just 2 hrs away from the Christchurch International Airport. Very little cities in the world have the privilege of this with regular fresh snow. Above is a picture of Mt Hutt New Zealand's best ski field.
Christchurch also known as the "Garden City" has well-established expansive parks and public gardens. There is the 161 hectare Hagley Park, the Botanic Gardens, Victoria Square and spectacular gardens such as Mona Vale on the banks of the River Avon. Above is a picture of the Botanic Gardens.
Christchurch offers an extensive range of recreational and sporting experiences at a variety of locations, such as above where there are many mountain biking tracks
Christchurch is easy to get around with so much to see and do within a short distance! There are tram services as shown above, bus services, plenty of bike ways and a railway.
Ko Tane is a place in christchurch where maori culture and conservation meet to show visitors how the way of life of the South Island Ngai Tahu Maori people before the arrival of the Europeans. Not many cities have a strong history (natives) and culture behind it.
